It’s no secret by now that I absolutely love sharing good shows, movie and book recommendations. If you follow me on snapchat (michaelabear1), you might have seen my currently series where every second week I share things that I’ve recently came across and loved, in hopes that you guys can enjoy them too! One of my pet peeves is sitting down to watch a movie at night and having no idea what to watch! I mean, I’m sure I’m not the only one who actually spends more time scrolling through Netflix than watching the actual movie? So I wanted to share 10 movies that I absolutely loved in hopes that maybe you mightn’t have seen some of them and could be in for a treat!

The Light Between Oceans: I watched this on the plane home for Christmas and it’s been in my mind ever since! It’s about a man (Michael Fassbender who is just delicious looking!), who lives on a secluded island where he maintains a lighthouse. Then he falls in love and his wife moves to the island with him! The story follows their relationship as they desperately try to start a family and end up raising a baby they rescued from a boat. Honestly you’ll probably cry but there was something really special about this movie and the beautiful scenery literally made me want to move to an island and manage a light house. #oneday

Love Rosie: I came across this one on Netflix and after watching it, I was shocked that it wasn’t more well known. It stars one of my favorite actresses Lily Collins and follows her character as she gets pregnant in her teens and struggles through her 20’s to find a soulmate and a career. I mean it when I say that this is such a feel good movie and will definitely leave you feeling very smiley!

Best in Show: A classic comedy in my eyes. I believe this is also on Netflix and if you’re a dog lover, I promise you’ll enjoy this one. It’s about a group of different people with all sorts of wild personalities who come together to show their dogs in a huge competition similar to Crufts. It’s filmed in a mocumentary style and features quite a few well known actors. Honestly was in stitches laughing at so many points during this movie.

Brooklyn: Ugh, where do I start. There has never been a movie that made me cry more than Brooklyn, but at the same time it was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Saoirse Ronan plays an Irish immigrant who lands in New York during the 1950’s as she struggles to set up a new life and battles with homesickness and a longing to be with her family back home (my autobiography basically lol!) Couldn’t recommend this one any more but just have a lot of tissues near by.

Southpaw: For some reason, I really really love movies about boxing and wrestling. I think it stems from my Conor McGregor obsession tbh. I enjoyed South Paw so much, Jake Gyllenhaal plays a boxer who tries to get his life back on track after loosing his wife. This one is a little sad at times but ultimately an inspiring story. If you like this, you’ll probably enjoy Warrior too, because who doesn’t enjoy a dose of Tom Hardy?

The Best Of Me: Based on a Nicholas Sparks book, this one is a story of two high school sweethearts who are reunited 20 years after being apart. It’s kind of similar to The Notebook and will give you those loved up feels but then there’s a tragic twist at the end that will make you question everything about life! Just kidding, but if you like a nice romantic drama then you’ll definitely enjoy this one!

Something Borrowed: Watched this after falling in love with the book version by Emily Giffin (one of my favorite authors). The plot is based on two girls who’s friendship is tested when one of them falls for the other’s fiance. It’s quite similar to Bride Wars in that it stars Kate Hudson and basically follows two women competing for something but I really loved the relatable characters and the amazing New York backdrop.

Enough: Am I the only one who really enjoys Jennifer Lopez movies? This one is a little bit old but didn’t get the hype it deserved in my opinion. It’s about a woman who plans an elaborate escape from her abusive husband and lives in suspense that he’ll one day find her. Definitely a little bit of a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat! If you like this one you’ll also like Double Jeoprady which is about a woman who is wrongly framed for killing her husband and then goes on a revenge mission.

Nine Months: I have a confession to make, I also really love any movie that Hugh Grant was in during his prime years! This romantic comedy from the 90’s follows a couple as they come to terms with introducing a baby into their family and try to mend their broken relationship along the way! Such a cute and easy watch that’s good for the soul.

Leap Year: ANOTHER MOVIE that didn’t garner a lot of attention but was such a nice watch. Amy Adams plays a woman who plans to travel to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend on a leap day, but not all goes as she intended. Basically she ends up in Kerry battling the Irish elements by trying to make her way to Kerry and meets another love interest along the way! Despite the HORRIFIC Irish accents, the beautiful Irish countryside and a sweet love story gave me all of the feels.

So there we have it, 10 movies that I really love! There’s so many more I could have shared so I may do a follow up post as well as share my favorite must-see shows and documentaries in the coming weeks! Let me know if you watch any and what you think!
