Happy Friday Everyone! It’s a very special day today, literally the day I’ve been counting down to for weeks and weeks, I’M GOING HOME TO IRELAND TONIGHT! I could not be more excited to get back home for the holidays and see my friends and family! I don’t know if it’s just me, but I really think that you appreciate Christmas so much more when you live abroad. For me it signifies the end of another chapter in my New York adventure and some time to recuperate before coming back to tackle another year! This might sound silly to say, but when I first moved here in June nearly 3 years ago, I struggled so badly with feeling homesick that I didn’t think I would ever be able to last 6 months in New York until Christmas. I’m not even exaggerating when I say that for months and month I would tell myself “just make it to Christmas and it will all be ok,” and I think that’s why to this day going home for Christmas is such a big milestone for me with so many emotions attached to it! Any time I leave Ireland to come back to New York, I have a feeling in my stomach as if someone is about to push me off a diving board into cold water, and then the time in between feels like I’m constantly swimming to get to land again, and that’s what today feels like! Even though there has been so many wonderful experiences this year, it’s also been a year that’s tested me both physically and emotionally! That said, I’ve made it another year, and I feel super proud of the fact!
