Happy Monday Everyone! Spring is in full swing here in New York! I’ve always said that Autumn is my favorite season here in the city, but I’m starting to think that Spring is even better! Every morning when I walk through Central Park or down Park Avenue on my way to work, I’m surrounded by cherry blossoms and tulips and it makes me smile SO much!
I came across this quote on Pinterest over the weekend that says “Take me back to the basics and the simple things” and for some reason it really struck a chord with me! I think as someone who grew up in the Irish countryside, I have such an appreciation for mother nature and the seasons. That might sounds silly to say, but what I mean is that I’m so glad something so simple can bring me happiness! In a world that is so driven by materialism and the internet, it’s easy to get caught up in walking around with your head in your phone and miss what beautiful things are around us! I definitely think it took me moving to New York to learn to appreciate those simple things. For instance, I’m going home for a weeks vacation at the end of May and more than anything, I’m looking forward to going for walks along Galway Bay and seeing the sunset and maybe even taking another road trip out to Connemara! I could not be more excited for this trip home, it will be 6 months to the day since I’ve seen my family and I have a new baby niece to meet which is going to be SO weird but also so wonderful! My struggles with homesickness always tend to creep up the closer I get to going home, something about it being on my mind more can bring out those feelings of how much I miss it, but thankfully it’s just another couple of weeks to wait, and May is going to be a CRAZY month so stay tuned!
