Happy Hump Day Guys! I’m pinching myself that it’s already mid-October. A couple of weeks ago I shared my Autumn to-do list and this past weekend I finally got to tick Pumpkin Picking off my list while Cathal’s family visited! One of the nicest things about living in New York is that there’s always people visiting the city for a vacation, which means you get to experience NYC through the eyes of a tourist all over again which makes me realize how magical a place it is and how lucky I am to be here! That said, this week I honestly feel like exhaustion has hit me like a brick. I really think that keeping up with the NYC pace, working a more than full time job and working hard on this little blog of mine is starting to take a little bit of a toll on me! I even fell asleep on the subway home from work yesterday LOL! I really think that one of the biggest struggles of a blogger who works full time is finding the time and energy to balance it all! My job really isn’t a regular 9-5 where you can log off after leaving the office and at the same time I’m feeling so inspired to try some new things here on Life of a Lady Bear, so sometimes it can be conflicting! I’m trying to figure out ways to get a little more energy, I already exercise regularly but I really need to start eating a healthier diet and introducing some protein into my meals, you guys who follow me on snapchat (michaelabear1) will know of my love of soup for dinner every night but I just don’t think it’s cutting it right now. I also have heard some wonderful things about meditation using apps like headspace so I’m going to try and start using that every night before I go to bed, even if it’s just for 10 minutes.

I also think that the change in weather has a big effect on people’s energy. The chill has definitely set in here so this will probably be one of my last outfit posts with the legs out for a while! I’m slowly but surely starting to add a couple of items into my wardrobe for Autumn/Winter and I think one of the most important things I think about when shopping is how cross-seasonal the item is! I picked up this embroidered dress in Zara a couple of weeks ago to wear it to the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party, and I think it’s cute for Spring/Summer but even better for Autumn paired with a pair of tights and some chelsea boots.

Also, just a reminder that tomorrow I’ll be announcing the winner of the #LadyBearBookClub competition over on my Instagram! There’s still time to enter under this post!

Guys, I don’t know about you but I’m feeling that Friday Feeling today (thank god!). It’s been a fun and exciting week starting off with a visit at work from one of my idols, Sophia Amoruso. For those of you who don’t know, Sophia started the online clothing store Nasty Gal and then wrote an AMAZING book about her success called “Girl Boss.” She was in town to promote her new coffee table book – which is beyond instagram friendly by the way. I was talking to her for quite a while and honestly she impressed me way more than I thought she would. Everything she said made so much sense, like that my generation of twenty something’s have a sense of entitlement and tend to forget that you need to put the time and the work in to climb the career chain, which is so true. I know so many people who maybe only have one year’s work experience behind them yet they feel that they should be CEO’s of their own company.  And that’s not to knock anyone with ambition in anyway but personally I found this to be extremely eye opening because it made me think that if one day I am lucky enough to work for myself, I want my employees to know that I worked my way up from doing mundane jobs like invoices and getting coffee to running my own show!  She also put emphasis on the importance of asking for what you want but being realistic about your expectations. My favorite piece of advice she had was to set goals for yourself, and remind yourself of those goals every day by using key words as passwords on your phone or laptop! Isn’t that just genius? Absolutely loved listening to her and to anyone who hasn’t read #GirlBoss, I highly recommend it!

Hi Guys! Happy Thursday! I’m so excited to share todays post with you all! If you’re one of the very sweet people who follows me on snapchat (Michaelabear1), you’ll know that I have a “Currently” series where I share my favorite books, movies, shows and general things that I’m loving at that moment! I always get such kind feedback from the people who watch, but the one thing people always say they love is the books I recommend. Everytime I share a picture of a book, it gets literally hundreds of screenshots! Since moving to NYC, I’ve made a conscious effort to start reading more books and get my head out of my phone and laptop and I absolutely love it. The one thing I always struggle with, is picking just one book when I’m looking for something to read, I don’t know about you but I always like a personal recommendation before I read a book so I know I won’t be wasting my time on a snore fest. I won’t lie, the books I read aren’t hard hitting autobiographies or about civil wars, instead they’re usually love stories, thrillers with a twist or anything set in New York! A lot of you seem to like books along these lines too so I decided I would start a monthly “Lady Bear Book Club”, where once a month I share a book review online and hopefully you guys can start reading it too! I’m going to start a #LadyBearBookClub hashtag so you guys can let me know which books you like and share any recommendations with me too!

Hi Everyone! With the end of the month approaching so very quickly, I have to say that September was the craziest month yet (I know, I feel like I say that every month too!). I thought it would be a great time to catch up on life with you all and fill you in on some of the exciting things I’ve got up to recently! September started out with a wonderful 25th Birthday followed quickly by a hectic New York Fashion Week! Obviously working at a fashion magazine means fashion month is a huge priority for us so there were a lot of long days and working weekends but it was such an enjoyable and eye opening experience! Then last weekend some of might have seen on snapchat (michaelabear1) that I had a flying trip to LA for the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party. I was literally only in LA for 26 hours but it was one of the coolest things I’ve done so far with Teen Vogue. I remember watching The Hills when Lauren and Whitney worked at the party and thinking it was the coolest thing in the world, never in my life did I think I would one day be there too!
