Hi guys! I hope your week has been going well! I’m feeling a little under the weather this week suffering from a bit of a cold and it couldn’t have come at a worse time with work being super busy at the moment! Here in the States, you only get a very few sick days to take so I’m determined to get back on the mend as soon as possible and thankfully with A LOT of vitamin C and vitamin early nights, I think it’s starting to work! I’ve had the funnest few days in the office starting off with an interview with the adorable Nathan Sykes (he used to be in The Wanted but now he’s gone solo and I’m legit obsessed with him!) And then yesterday, one of my absolute idols Gabby Douglas came to visit and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited to meet anyone in my life! I always get glued to the gymnastics during the Olympics so I’ve been a huge fan of hers since 2012. She was BEYOND sweet and even let me try on her gold medal which was surprisingly heavy. I literally couldn’t stop smiling for the day after meeting her, definitely a highlight of the Summer! And then to finish this week off, I’m heading to the VMA press junket this morning where I’ll be getting a sneak peak of the stage for Sunday’s show and hopefully spot a celeb or two! Definitely not your average week but I couldn’t be more appreciative of how lucky I am that I get to have these wonderful experiences!

Hello Friday, you beaut! I hope you all had a great week! I’m so excited for this weekend! Tomorrow I have a very fun Bridal inspired shoot with the girls from Bramble and Berrie (who are having a  40% off sale today). We are heading upstate for the day so I’m looking forward to a mini roadtrip and a day filled with pretty dresses and flower crowns! I’m just praying that the weather isn’t anything like last weekend where I borderline got heat stroke (ok slight exaggeration but Christ it was hot!) And then tomorrow night is of course the McGregor fight! I think if you follow me on snapchat (Michaelabear1) you’ll know by know that I’m deeply obsessed with Conor and the only big nights out I have here in NYC are when he’s fighting. And that pretty much sums it up, I hope you guys have an amazing weekend whatever you get up to!

Happy Tuesday Guys! Some of you may have seen on my snapchat (Michaelabear1) this morning on my way to my Pilates class, a man handed me a piece of paper that said “Strength is the product of struggle, you must do what others don’t do to achieve what others won’t”, and it really stuck with me! In my new (well not so new anymore) job at Teen Vogue, I find myself not dreading going to work on a Monday morning or counting down the days until Friday which for me, is all I could ask for in a career. When I was a little younger I used to think that I wanted to be raking in the big bucks and live a comfortable life, but as I get older I’m starting to learn that all long as you feel passionate and inspired by the work you do, then that truly is a gift in itself (and hopefully the bustling bank account will come one day too!) One of my favorite people to follow, Miriam from Bake My Style said the exact same thing on her snapchat this morning. She just started a new job this week and mentioned how nice it is to not be watching the clock all day waiting for 6pm to come and I couldn’t agree more. Life is much too short to be working in something that doesn’t fulfill you and make you smile at least once a day.

Happy Hump Day Loves! The past week has been one of the funnest so far this Summer with some visitors staying with us from Ireland. I always think that nothing makes you appreciate NYC more than seeing it through a tourists eyes. We did so many fun sightseeing activities and ate out at some amazing restaurants (so much eating, too much eating!) I remember the first time Cathal and I visited New York for a weekend when we were living in Boston during the Summer and would you believe, we both actually hated it? We couldn’t understand why anyone would want to live in a place where the streets were lined with crowds of people and a lot of stinky garbage. Then the following Summer we came over with a big group of Irish lads and had the best three months of my life. I worked as a recruiter for Abercrombie and Fitch that Summer, so my days were literally spent walking every inch of Manhattan scouting new models to work in the store and to shoot campaigns. It was really those months that made me see the city through the eyes of an actual New Yorker and I became hooked! It’s funny how your perception of something changes with time isn’t it?
