Happy Monday Guys! By now many of you will probably know that one thing that always brings a smile to my face is stationary. I am a self confessed stationary hoarder with too many cute notebooks, planners and cards to even count! In fact one of my ultimate dreams is to one day have my own line of stationary with beautiful planners and wedding invitations (aim high guys right?) Each year around this time, I treat myself to a brand new planner and this time I went for my second one Ban.do which I’m already obsessed with! As cheesy as it sounds, there’s something so refreshing about a opening a brand new planner and penning in the dates of things to look forward to.

You might have seen my post two weeks ago where I visited the Wonder Photo Shop to print some instax photo’s and for months it’s been on my mind to make a scrapbook of my first year in New York with all of my polaroids taken at momentous occasions, but then I bought my new planner and thought of an even better idea. I used a couple of my favorite instax photo’s to mark important dates into my planner so that when I come to the week I have a cute little reminder of something from the past. As I said before, sometimes in this digital age I find myself forgetting to print my photo’s, and the few times I do print them, they usually end up in a drawer somewhere until one day I feel like a walk down memory lane! But by sticking them into my new planner, I’ll be able to see them more often which is great! I used to absolutely adore doing little DIY projects like this, but I feel since moving to NYC there just hasn’t been enough time to get my creative thinking hat on. But this particular project literally took 15 minutes and was super easy to do, especially if you use Washi Tape instead of glue! That way you can actually remove the instax photos once done with your planner next year!

Happy Hump Day guys! The weeks are going by so quickly but I think that’s a sign that I’m feeling very content.  Lately I definitely feel like things have fallen into place again, after feeling somewhat disjointed for a couple of months. I’m always one who tries to be so positive and never complain here on my blog or on social media but without getting too deep into it, I really found the start of this year kind of difficult. After spending Christmas in Ireland and coming back to the harsh winter in New York, my struggles with homesickness were real! It was also a time where I was starting to look for a new job which is never fun and I found myself not feeling my usual happy self. I felt hugely uninspired and would cry at the drop of a hat for absolutely no reason. To make things worse, besides having Cathal around (who is quite literally my knight in shining armour),  I really felt like I had no genuine support system here in the city so it was kind of a lonely time. Remember back in March when I went home? I literally booked that trip on two days notice after reaching a breaking point. I really felt so mentally exhausted and weak that going home for a while and seeing my family was the only thing that would make me feel better. Truth be told, I wasn’t 100% sure that I would even come back to NYC. However, after a couple of days a what I’m calling a “mental health” break, I started to gain a little perspective and built up the confidence to come back and give New York everything I had to give!

Happy Monday Everyone! After a really lovely weekend, the Monday blues are hitting me harder than ever. Many of you will know of my love for Instagram. I love nothing more than taking pictures of things that inspire me here in New York and sharing them with you guys. I love that my family and friends back home in Ireland get to keep up to date with my NYC adventure by looking through my feed and I also love seeing what amazing things they’re getting up to also. That said, since “iphoneography” has become most people’s way of documenting their life, I find that I never actually end up printing my photos, instead they’re on my phone which is great and all but there’s something missing. I love looking through old photo albums from when I was a kid and I know in ten years time I’ll want to look back on photos from this time of my life, but chances are I will have switched phones and they’ll no longer exist. Which is why I absolutely adore the instax® polaroid camera! You’ll have seen that I take my polaroid camera with me on any trip I take and I have a big billboard in my living room with all of these wonderful memories on it. I’m hoping to start making a scrapbook in the coming weeks out of them. I just genuinely think there is nothing sweeter than a polaroid picture, I have one of my mom from when she was a teenager that I always keep with me.
