As some of you may know from Instagram and Snapchat (Michaelabear1), I celebrated my 24th Birthday earlier this month.  I remember when I was a teenager, 24 seemed so old but now I feel like life is just getting started. I’m definitely someone who always dreaded getting older but I’m slowly realising that the older you get the wiser you become and learn to live life to the fullest. I feel that even in the past few months since moving to New York I’ve learned so much about myself and thought I would share some of my favourite life lessons.

This past weekend was the last official Summer Weekend here in New York! The heatwaves are over and the leaves are slowly starting to change and I’m more excited than ever for my favourite season to arrive. I have to admit, I’ve found the past couple of weeks here a little difficult. Once my friends moved back to Ireland after the Summer, I really started to feel a little homesick and just run down in general. One of my favourite things about living in New York is the endless amount of new things to explore. This Summer I really enjoyed visiting The Gansevort Market anytime I was in The Meatpacking District.  Basically its a beautiful food hall filled with any type of food you could imagine from Pizza to Nutella Crepes to Macaroons and even Tacos sold out of a VW bus. Theres nothing better than taking a walk around trying to figure out what different foods you’ll have for dinner and dessert! I even spotted a British Food stand that sold some my favourite Irish candies…missing that Cadbury’s chocolate big time over here!

One of my favourite things to do on the weekends in New York is to aimless wander around a certain part of town. This Sunday, Cathal and I walked all the way along Park Avenue, admiring all of the beautiful buildings and cute little cafes. Living in one of the most expensive cities in the world, you become exposed to such an extreme level of wealth, from beautiful town houses to fancy cars. It always makes me wonder what do these people do to have reached such a level of success in their lives.  I definitely think its true that people move to New York to try and make their mark on the world and theres nothing more motivating than seeing
first hand, if you work hard enough and hit a little bit of luck, then you might just make it!
